Climate smart irrigation products
Agriculture is crucial to Kenya’s economy, food security and poverty reduction directly accounting for more than a quarter of the gross domestic product, 70 percent of rural jobs, 65 percent of exports and 60 percent of foreign exchange earnings. Yet Kenya’s reliance on rain fed agriculture and minimal returns on agricultural investment makes farmers vulnerable to inconsistent production and reduced incomes
BSF based poultry and fish feeds
70% of production cost in poultry and fish farming is attributed to feeds, hampering commercialization by small & medium scale farmers and feed manufacturers are also keen to find an alternative. Fishmeal, a key ingredient in feed manufacturing is expensive and unsustainable due to competing demand from food and feed. Our BSF larvae based feed which has the same nutritional content as fishmeal is an affordable alternative lowering the production cost by 50%.
Our current BSF production unit in Isiolo (Maili 3, along Meru Isiolo Rd) also serves as a training centre for farmers who are interested in learning how to formulate their own fish/poultry feeds using BSF
